In just a few days our community will hold the election of our Board of Directors. I want to take this time for reflect............
First, there were 3 consecutive meetings (June, July and August) that were canceled without giving the owners PROPER NOTICE
as per our documents. WHY? One, understandable but 3 should cause us all to wonder WHY. There certainly is plenty to discuss.
The president stated at the September meeting that HE WAS TOO BUSY WITH HIS LANDSCAPING BUSINESS. REALLY? So we come second? Our well being certainly is not his priority! It appears that the president has no confidence in his vice president. If the president cannot be present, that is why there is a vice president! You know, looking back at past meetings, how many board members have attended the meetings? NONE! Do these member just not care or are there other reasons? If they are too busy then they need to be replaced.
We, the owners in Greater Groves, are involved in a lawsuit caused by our sitting president. He was arrested for the attack on one of our owners, the young father of two children. This young man was transported to the hospital via ambulance following the attack. Mr. Robertson was arrested for felony battery. So, we are being sued for our presidents short and violent temper. Who is representing us? The HOA attorney who is a real estate lawyer not a litigator. We should have better representation not a real estate lawyer. We are not talking a few thousand dollars but many times that. We, the owners will have to pay the award and we are being kept in the dark. We need to be kept informed on what is transpiring with this case. The president should have been a gentleman and admit to his mistake and step down as president until the case against him found him innocent. On the flip side, if the young father did sustain injuries, he should be compensated. But why should we be liable for the short and violent temper of our president? We realize Mr. Robertson cannot speak about the case, but our board should have answering our questions. They have a FIDUCIARY OBLIGATION TO ALL OF THE HOMEOWNERS. At anytime a special meeting could have been called making us aware of the events and what we might expect for an award and where the money is coming from. It isn't our insurance company! Is this the representation you want? Especially when it can cost every homeowner money out of their pockets!

us to litigate? After reading the latest financial statement is it worth the money, money we do not have?
We have a beautiful pool, nice umbrellas with our name on them, new fencing around the pool and the rehab of our tennis courts. But what important issues are being kept from us? We finally have a management company! When do they start? We have been without one for over a year which is in violation of FLORIDA STATE STATUES! Why did it take over a year to make this decision? Let's get new members who can make better decisions in shorter time.
My goodness, violating state statues, lawsuits, the arrest of the president and who knows how much more is being kept from us. Stop and think about these "situations". Is this the representation we want for our community? Only YOU CAN MAKE THE CHANGES OUR GREATER GROVES COMMUNITY SO DESPERATELY NEEDS! Your voice needs to be heard! Voice your opinion on November 30th, remember you DO NOT have to vote for 5, you may select just the people you want on the board!
At the past meetings the turn out has been very poor. Does this mean all of you are happy with the way things are going? Attack on owner, lawsuits etc? I AM NOT ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THE CHANGES WE NEED!
In the many years that I have lived here, I have never seen this community so divided! "We" should not be working against one another but working together to rebuild our community. The board needs to keep all owners informed, At one meeting an owner made the comment that our board has become a dictatorship. you know, he just might be right! Look how they are controling the votes and the manner of how we vote and the fact we cannot make nominations from the floor. What is we have someone we feel can is better qualified? We need to have the board change the By Law again and give us some choices in voting.
In closing, please remember this past year and what it is costing us.
At a recent meeting our president told us we are BROKE! BROKE with just over $200.00 in our checking account. This tellsl me that they do not know how to budge and spends our money foolishly!
We need change and only you can make these changes on Wednesday, November 30th. I hope to see a lot of home owners there that night!
